About Scholarship

The target audience of the scholarship is graduate and Ph.D. researchers with at least two years of work experience. DAAD claims to offer scholarships in all fields of study. The courses are both offered in German and English.

It is a fully funded scholarship. However, DAAD does not cover the tuition fee. Most universities are free, so you can use the monthly payment for your expenses.

The DAAD research grant is one year for post-doctoral and two years, and the full doctoral program is for two years, primarily from candidates from developing countries.

The DAAD scholarship covers almost all expenses. Education in Germany is free, but the German federal government pays the monthly expense of the scholarship, which includes:

  1. The DAAD Scholarship Program 2024 covers the travel allowance.
  2. DAAD scholarships do not require repayments as they are not loans.
  3. Depending on the course, they offer monthly payments of €861 and €1,200 to masters and Ph.D. candidates.
  4. The scholarship covers health, accidents, and personal liability expenses.
  5. One-off study allowance
  6. If you are not in the European Union area, then you may be allowed to work 120 days a year.
  7. DAAD alumni get the opportunity to join sustainable networking events.

Scholarship holders might receive these additional benefits:

  1. Monthly rent.
  2. Monthly allowance for family members.

Eligibility: 

The DAAD Scholarship Program 2024-2025 has strict criteria to meet for Masters and PhD candidates, which are:

  1. DAAD language instruction is in English for international students. It is necessary to submit the English language certificate for international students, e.g., TOEFL and IELTS.
  2. You are required to submit the German language certificate for other programs, e.g., DSH or TestDaF.
  3. You must be a graduate or have a master’s degree in the required field.
  4. Two years of work experience is necessary.

  1. Select up to three courses you want to enroll in.
  2. Choose your desired university in Germany offering your selected course.
  3. Complete your application with the required documents given below.
  4. The selection committee will select the potential candidate.
  5. DAAD will contact you to apply on the online portal (You will receive the link through email)
  6. After the selection process, you will be informed accordingly by the DAAD.

Required Documents

To apply for the DAAD scholarship, you need the following documents:

  1. DAAD signed the document with the current date.
  2. Your updated CV on Europass format.
  3. Letter of motivation. If you are applying for more than one course, you have to submit one motivation letter on why you are applying for these courses. (current occupation reference and choice of program total of 2 pages) 
  4. Letter of recommendation from your current employer. The letter should be on the company’s letterhead with a sign, stamp, and current date.
  5. Employment certification and the reemployment letter to reemploy you after returning home country.
  6. Language proficiency letter: English — TOFEL, IELTS

German — for German course

  1. Copies of academic degrees — translated into the required language
  2. Copies of academic transcripts
  3. Candidates from the People’s Republic of China are required to submit an APS certificate with signed documents.
