Eligibility
Since 2016, there have been 104,000 students studying in Korea. To apply for the Global Korea Scholarship, the candidate must meet certain criteria. Here you will find the list of eligibility points.
- Candidates applying for a bachelor’s program must be under the age of 40. Must be born after September 1, 1983 — For Masters, Ph.D.
- Nationals of Korea are not eligible for the GKS 2023.
- International students can apply globally.
- Candidates applying for a master’s program must hold a bachelor’s degree or a degree equivalent to it.
- Applicants of the research program must have an invitation letter from the partner Korean university.
- A candidate who has already availed of any Korean scholarship is not eligible.
- A student must be in good health to apply for the GKS 2023.
Role of TOPIK in GKS (fully-funded)
Students applying for the Global Korea Scholarship program must take the 1-year Korean language course. The students who have done TOPIK 5 or 6 can skip the Korean language course and can directly apply to the degree program.
The certificate of TOPIK lasts for 2 years. A candidate must make sure of its validity date before applying for admission through GKS.
The students enrolling in language courses must pass with TOPIK 3 level, otherwise, they will not be able to continue the degree program.

Application

There are two ways to apply for the scholarship: one through the Korean embassy of your home country, and two through a domestic Korean university.
- If a candidate is applying through the Korean embassy, he/she shall dispatch original documents to the embassy.
- Candidate must dispatch all the attested documents if applying through a domestic university in Korea.
- Applicants applying through the embassy can apply to 3 different universities.
- Candidates, who are applying directly can only apply at 1 university.
- After passing this embassy track round, a candidate shall wait for a call from the embassy.
